Paul Brown Stadium
Named for the founder, Paul Brown, the home venue of the Cincinnati Bengals is Paul Brown Stadium. Located in Cincinnati, Ohio, this massive structure became open to the public in 2000. Nicknamed “The Jungle”, this stadium was constructed to replace Riverfront Stadium, which the Bengals had previously shared with the MLB’s Reds. Now in a building devoted solely to football, the Bengals enjoy one of the best home field advantages in the NFL with their raucous crowd that turn out for each home game.
In addition to Bengals games, Paul Brown Stadium has hosted a number of NCAA football games, concerts, and the Cincinnati Jazz Festival. The beautiful architecture of this venue is recognized as one of “America’s favorite 150 buildings and structures”. It is the only football stadium to make the list.

The final team added to the AFL lineup, the Cincinnati Bengals played just two years in the American Football League before the merger saw them become a member of the NFL in the AFC. Wasting no time under head coach Paul Brown, the Bengals made the playoffs in their inaugural NFL season.
While 13 more playoff appearances would follow, none would end in a Super Bowl victory for the Bengals. Cincinnati came closest to attaining this elusive title in the 1980s. Their first chance came in 1981, but was lost 26-21 at the hands of Joe Montana and the San Francisco 49ers. Following the 1988 season, the Bengals met the 49ers in the Super Bowl again for a rematch that ended in another heartbreaker for Cincinnati fans as Montana bested the Bengals again, completing the go-ahead drive to win the game with just 34 seconds left on the clock.
Bitter memories of these title games haunted the Bengals for years. Cincinnati would go on to make the postseason only once more under head coach Sam Wyche (in 1990) and would not make another appearance until 2005 under head coach Marvin Lewis. Highly regarded throughout Cincinnati, Lewis had been at the helm of this team from 2003 until the end of 2018. Looking forward, the Bengals organization picked out Zac Taylor from the Los Angeles Rams staff as the guy with the right fit for the head coaching spot for their current team to help propel them to playoff wins and a chance at their first Super Bowl victory.
The 2019 season saw the Bengals drop to a record of 2-14. The 2020 season was all about renewal. The Bengals used their first pick in the 2020 NFL Draft to select Joe Burrow out of LSU to be the new franchise QB. His impressive rookie season came to an unfortunate end with a torn left ACL and MCL. It will be a long road back for this QB, but fans in Cincy can’t wait to see him back under center next season. While the 5-11-1 season is disappointing, there is plenty of reason for optimism about the future of this team.
Head coach Zac Taylor is hoping that offensive tackle Jonah Williams, the 2019 1st round draft selection out of Alabama (11th overall) will be provide some big protection for Burrow and help earn a division title. Williams has battled injuries in his young career but is eager to stay healthy going forward.
Running back Joe Mixon, who went over 1,100 yards in 2019, struggled with injuries in 2020. He is ready to lead the charge again along Tyler Boyd, the number one threat in the passing game. Tee Higgins aims to give Burrow another great option down field through the air. Additionally, Cincy used their fifth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft to take receiver Ja’Marr Chase out of LSU. The offense is starting to look very dangerous.
Cincinnati has top talent in the form of defensive end Sam Hubbard and defensive tackle DJ Reader. Trae Waynes, Darius Phillips, Vonn Bell, Shawn Williams, and rookie Jessie Bates all patrol the backfield. Germaine Pratt, taken in the third round of the 2019 draft, also makes a quick impact on this team as a linebacker.
Many memorable names have played on the field at Paul Brown Stadium over the years for the Bengals. Fans in Cincinnati count among the best of them to be Anthony Munoz, AJ Green, Ken Anderson, Boomer Esiason, Chad Ochocinco, Tim Krumrie, Cris Collinsworth, and Ickey Woods.
