AMERICAN FAMILY FIELD
Since the beginning of the 2001 season, American Family Field has been the home field for the Milwaukee Brewers. On a field of Kentucky Bluegrass, the Brewers take the field each night under the lights of this great ballpark. The fan-shaped convertible roof offers protection from the elements when necessary, but can also open up in less than 10 minutes when the weather cooperates.
Previously known as Miller Park, this retro-designed venue provides an atmosphere of pure baseball. It even played host to the 2002 MLB All-Star Game. However, that is not to say that American Family Field hasn’t hosted its fair share of concerts, soccer games, and even a bowling tournament. This is an all-around great venue.
Bernie Brewer, the team mascot, has a slide in left field that gets used every time a Brewers player hits a home run while the sound system plays the call of legendary announcer Bob Uecker. In the middle of the 6th inning there are even sausage-themed races to get the crowd excited. This ballpark is electric!
The luxury suites at American Family Field are truly a sight to behold. Everything about them screams luxury. From the upscale furniture to the great sightlines to the field, you will enjoy every pitch. Along with maximum comfort comes the other perks of these wonderful boxes. From private restrooms to a wet bar and decadent catering options, you will be treated like royalty at a Brewers game. Making their home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin since the 1970 season, the Milwaukee Brewers are still on the hunt for the first World Series title. Half a century in professional baseball has yielded little in the form of tangibles to measure their success. They have made the playoffs five times, including the strike-split 1981 season. Their lone league championship came back in 1982 when the Brewers were in the American League. They lost the World Series that year to the St. Louis Cardinals in five games.
Despite this lack of success, the fans in Milwaukee love their hometown Brew Crew. Always hoping that this will be their year, they flock to American Family Field each season to watch their squad battle it out in the NL Central against rivals including the Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals, Cincinnati Reds, and Pittsburgh Pirates.
The 2020 season was another one for the books in Milwaukee. Their record of 29-31 in the pandemic-shortened season put them in 4th place in the NL Central. However, the Brewers were able to reach the NL Wild Card where they would be swept by the eventual World Series Champion Los Angeles Dodgers. Former Brewer Craig Counsell has been the team’s manager since 2015 and was at the helm for three consecutive playoff appearances in addition to being named Manager of the Year in 2017. His goal is to advance this team even further and win the first World Series in team history.
Counsell has a cast of solid players to rely on in the field. Catcher Omar Narvaez had a down year in 2020 is looking much more solid in the 2021 campaign. Daniel Vogelbach, Kolten Wong, Eduardo Escobar, and Willy Adames round out the infield and are all expected to be productive in the batter’s box. The excellent outfield is anchored by including Avisail Garcia, Lorenzo Cain, and 2018 and 2019 NL Batting Champion Christian Yelich.
The pitching crew leads off with their ace, Brandon Woodruff. He is followed by another standout in Corbin Burnes. Young veterans in Adrian Houser and Freddy Peralta lend further expertise to this rotation along with Brett Anderson while closers Devin Williams (2020 NL Rookie of the Year) and Josh Hader aim to shut things down late.
Lots of fingers are crossed in Milwaukee right now as Brewers fans hope the product on the field can go even further than last season so that the team can achieve their ultimate goal of earning a World Series title. Fan favorites in Milwaukee include Robin Yount, Paul Molitor, Cecil Cooper, Rollie Fingers, and Ryan Braun. For more information about the Milwaukee Brewers click here.
