The Met’s first game at this ballpark was held on April 3, 2009, against the Boston Red Sox as a charity exhibition game. A popular baseball venue, Citi Field hosted the 2013 Major League Baseball All-Star Game. The official seating capacity is 41,922. In an homage to the Polo Grounds, all of the seats in this ballpark are green. There is a pedestrian bridge in the outfield called Shea Bridge which resembles the Hell Gate Bridge. This beautiful venue meshes together many beloved aspects from Shea stadium with an updated look that has energized both the ball club and its fan base.
