Ford Field
Having been the home of the Detroit Lions since 2002, Ford Field has also played host to a Super Bowl in addition to NCAA Football Bowl games, NCAA Basketball tournament games, NCAA Hockey Frozen Four games, CONCACAF Gold Cup Soccer, WrestleMania, concerts, and other events. Detroit fans hope to add to that list a Detroit Lions playoff game in the near future.
The design of Ford Field is unique compared to the other football venues around the NFL. This brick façade multi-purpose stadium was constructed around a former warehouse to incorporate it into the design, offering the majority of grandstand seating on one side of the venue, while the warehouse side houses the premium club area and luxury suites. Over 130 suites line the side of Ford Field with varying sizes and configurations. All are equipped with comfortable seating and great sight lines to the field. The catering choices at Ford Field will have you feeling great, win or lose.

A staple in the NFL since 1930, the Detroit Lions are a classic team in the NFC North. After moving from Portsmouth, OH to Detroit in 1933 and changing their team moniker from the Spartans to the Lions, this group has been a consistent competitor on the gridiron. However, despite decades of blood, sweat, and tears, the Lions have yet to earn their first Super Bowl title. In fact, the Lions have only made one NFC Championship appearance. That came in 1991 and ended with a 41-10 loss at the hands of the eventual Super Bowl champion team from Washington.
Fans in Detroit are all too familiar with the tough side of being a fan. Compounding factors such as playing in a division with the Packers, Bears, and Vikings coupled with bad luck, bad draft decisions, and the early retirements of two of the greatest players in their history (Barry Sanders and Calvin Johnson), the Lions need to catch a break. However, never a team to look for a handout, this blue collar squad is intent on earning their keep and winning a Super Bowl through brute force on the field.
The linchpin of the offense for the last 12 season had been quarterback Matthew Stafford. Now, under a new general manager (Brad Holmes) and a new head coach (Dan Campbell), a decision was made for this franchise. After Stafford expressed his desire to move on after many losing seasons (including the 5-11 campaign in 2020), the front office was able to strike a deal which would send the QB to Los Angeles in exchange for Jared Goff and several draft picks. The Lions not only get a younger quarterback that they hope can become a long-term starter, but they also received the Rams third round pick in 2021, and first round picks in 2022 and 2023. The Lions invested in Goff further in the first round of the draft by selecting offensive tackle Penei Sewell out of Oregon. His job is simple: Don’t let anyone get to Goff.
Adrian Peterson and D’Andre Swift push for yards on the ground. Danny Amendola looked even more comfortable in his second season with the Lions as did TJ Hockenson, who saw his role grow larger after a solid rookie season. Signing veteran Breshad Perriman adds a solid receiver with experience to the depth chart.
The defensive squad is filled with quality starters, including Trey Flowers and Jamie Collins. These veterans are always eager to get out on the field. The corner positions are looking good with Amani Oruwariye patrolling the outfield along with Jeff Okudah, the third overall draft pick from 2020.
Among the best players in Lions history to take the field are Dick “Night Train” Lane, Herman Moore, Dick LeBeau, Billy Sims, Bobby Layne, Calvin Johnson, and Barry Sanders. Click here to learn more about the Detroit Lions.
