Moda Center
The primary indoor sports arena of the Portland area, the Moda Center first opened for business in 1995. It has been home to the Portland Trail Blazers ever since. However, this grand facility is equipped for any number of other events, and has been used for just about everything over the years.
Serving as the home arena of teams in the WNBA, WHL, WISL, NLL, and AFL, the Moda Center can handle any event. Its unique “acoustical cloud” of 160 rotating acoustic panels suspended from the ceiling has turned this place into one of the loudest venues in the NBA. Professional Bull Riding, Professional Wrestling, Motorcross and Extreme Sports, US Figure Skating Championships, NCAA Basketball, and major concerts are just some of the events this venue has hosted. They hope to add to that list an NBA All-Star Game and the NBA Finals in the near future.
More than 70 suites have been constructed inside of this building, each with amenities that include a wet bar, private restroom, and multiple televisions monitors in addition to delicious catering and a wonderful ambience created from the tasteful décor.

Blazers basketball has been enjoyed by the residents of Oregon and NBA fans across the nation since 1970. An expansion team 15 years in the making, the NBA finally awarded a franchise to the city of Portland and they joined the league.
Their first few seasons are marked by losing records, despite some great play from Geoff Petrie and Sidney Wicks. It would take seven years for the Blazers to earn an NBA playoff berth. However, once they did, this group was determined to make the most of it. Aided by a young superstar in Bill Walton (selected number one overall in 1974), Portland knocked off the Chicago Bulls in three games before moving on to the Denver Nuggets. The six game series saw Portland move on to the Western Conference Finals. Sweeping the Lakers in four straight games, the Blazers were the unlikely western representative of the NBA Finals. After a tremendous six game series against Dr. J and the Philadelphia 76ers, the Portland Trail Blazers would become NBA Champions.
A perennial contender after their first title, the Blazers made the playoffs 25 out of the next 26 seasons, including 21 seasons in a row. Never able to take home another championship, the Trail Blazers did find themselves in the NBA Finals again in 1990 and 1992 where they would lose to the Chicago Bulls and Detroit Pistons respectively. These teams were led by Clyde Drexler, who was named as one of the 50 greatest players in NBA History.
More appearances would follow through the 1990s and into the new millennium, with the 2000 season ending just one game shy of a Finals berth. However, Portland was on the decline. 2012-2013 saw Terry Stotts sign on as the new head coach and Damian Lillard come onboard with the team. Suddenly, Portland was back in the hunt and have qualified for the playoffs every year since 2014.
Two seasons removed from a trip to the Western Conference Finals, Portland is still trying to break out from the first round of the playoffs. Eliminated in five games by the eventual champion LA Lakers in the 2019-2020 season, the Trail Blazers again found themselves exiting the postseason in 2020-2021. A six game series against the Denver Nuggets kept Portland from advancing. The offseason will be spent getting healthy, improving the roster, and working towards a deeper playoff run in 2021-2022. Management parted way with Terry Stotts following their fourth first round exit in five years. Taking over is former NBA player Chauncey Billups. He makes the move the Portland after serving as an assistant for the Clippers.
There is still a strong roster here with Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum, and Carmelo Anthony. Disappointed yet proud, the fans in Portland were encouraged by their team’s performance and expect them to be back next season for another deep playoff run. A long rebuild may not be necessary as it looks like this team is just a player or two away from being a strong contender. Portland is hoping that the acquisition of Norman Powell from Toronto at the trade deadline is the piece that can put them over the top.
The Portland Trail Blazers have had some incredibly talented NBA players on their roster over the years including Clyde Drexler, Damian Lillard, Bill Walton, Terry Porter, Brandon Roy, Arvydas Sabonis, LaMarcus Albridge, and Sidney Wicks.
